Dr. Lukas Ruf
is one of the experts with application, system and network security of
Switzerland. He is specialized in network and system security, risk
management, identity and access management, computer network architectures,
operating systems, and computer architectures. He is an expert in strategic
network/ICT consulting, security audits, and designer of security
architectures for distributed platforms.
Dr. Lukas Ruf has been gaining experience in Security
and Strategy Consulting since early 2000. Since 1988 he has been active with
in ICT application development as an architect, lead engineer, apprentice
coach, consultant, educator and trainer. His proficiency builds on this

Lukas holds a Ph.D. (Dr. sc. techn.) in Internet
communication technologies and an MSc. EE (Dipl. El.-Ing.)
both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technologies (ETH)
Zurich. His Ph.D. thesis focused on flexible, on-demand
dynamically extensible, service oriented, component-based
router architectures for multiprocessor router platforms.
He designed service and router models, implemented PromethOS
NP, a NodeOS to manage and abstract the resources of a router
platform, and defined SLESP, an efficient resource allocation
algorithm for component-based services.

Lukas has been working with In&Out AG, a security and
business consultancy based in Switzerland, as a senior consultant for ICT Risk
Management and Assessment, Auditing and Strategic Consulting.
Lukas has been member of IEEE and ACM since 1996.
For IEEE, he served as secretary to the board of
the student chapter of Switzerland. He participates in IEEE
societies on communication and computer systems, and in the
ACM special interest group on operating systems (SIGOS). He is
actively involved in educating graduate students (semester and
master theses), and serves as technical program committee
member on multiple boards of conferences and journals.
He is contributing member of the Information Security Society
Switzerland (ISSS), and the Swiss Informationstechnische
Gesellschaft (ITG).
Lukas is Swiss citizen. His mother tongue is German, he
is fluent in English (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency
in English), French and Italian. He likes traveling, taking
photographs, is interested in culture, politics and economics,
and enjoys standard Latin and ballroom dances. For ages,
he has been enjoying windsurfing at sea-side.
